In February 2008 Agribusiness for Sustainable Natural African Plant Products (ASNAPP) was appointed by the Department as mentor for the project. During May and June 2008 ASNAPP provided training to the project participants in Stellenbosch at the Welgevallen Experimental Farm (University of Stellenbosch). Extensive training was provided in greenhouse and crop production management and the participants also experienced practical greenhouse work first-hand. Financial and business training was also provided. The director of training and mentoring was Dr Petrus Langenhoven (Agronomist and Greenhouse specialist), assisted by Ms Melissa Daniels (Horticulturalist), Mr Andries Arendse (Nursery Manager) and Mr Tial Dees (Greenhouse Manager). ASNAPP also assisted with a 24 month mentorship program. Mr Tial Dees was seconded on a permanent basis to the company. |
